Science Event Moderation
Many events in Germany take place at universities, where diverse groups come together: students and researchers, politicians and business professionals, representing all ages and social backgrounds. For an event moderator, university events are therefore a particular challenge, as they must make their moderation engaging and understandable for a wide variety of personalities. Since Benny Ge himself was active in academia and worked on his PhD in economics at the University of Cologne, he is well acquainted with what is needed.
Why book an event moderator for a science event?
Although it's difficult to bring together the diverse interest groups at a university event, these events are often not moderated professionally. Instead , professors, doctoral students, or administrative staff find themselves in the role of moderator . These moderaters often only think about their closest target audience (or their boss) and don't sufficiently empathize with the audience . As a result, the hall often empties after the first break.
The most common faux pas when moderating a university event:
Nothing is more unpleasant than sensational facts quoted by the moderator that have nothing to do with science
Nothing is more embarrassing than sloppy research in front of a scientific audience

ABOUT
Moderator for Science and
University Events
The moderator, Benny Ge, not only studied for his master's degree at the university but also worked as a research assistant, lecturer, and administrative employee at the university. He therefore understands the role of a moderator at a university event from almost every perspective. He knows how moderation can support learning and academic debate. In his view, poor event moderation at university events, however, leads to incorrectly focused topics and a superficial university event. It doesn't get to the heart of the matter and doesn't advance discussion participants or professional attendees.

Costs for a science event moderator
But how much does it cost to hire a moderator for my university event? And the answer, just like with lawyers, is: it depends. Depending on what you're planning for your event, Benedict Gerdes will create a suitable quote for you. The cost of moderating a science forum is completely different than that of a networking evening or an alumni event. It's best to contact me, and we can discuss what moderation for your science event would cost.
